Seven bridges and Amsterdam central station
There is a direct line from the images from my younger years to the present with Stipo, to living in Amsterdam, working in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, always being involved in changes in cities, public space, the quality of our surroundings and developments in society.
It goes from the 10-year-old girl who came home indignant because a small path on the island of Dordrecht with bridges over ditches made from 20-cm-wide planks had been bulldozed to make way for a new housing estate. The path with the seven bridges was gone!
And from the journey by train to Amsterdam where I was going to stay with my grandparents, where my grandfather was waiting for me under the enormous roof of Amsterdam central station.
The path with the seven bridges taught me to look differently at the world around me.
Amsterdam, where my mother was born, taught me to love city life.
My upbringing in Dordrecht gave me a life-long appreciation for the wonderful landscape of Holland, with its polders and rivers.

Stipo
The collaboration with the people at Stipo and our clients continues to fascinate me. As well as the cacophony of projects, the focus on the future, and the opportunities to improve the living environment and to contribute to openings for housing and work.
