Solution-driven
The 'Stipo approach' was developed in the planology department of the University of Amsterdam. Initially, the approach was used mainly for solving problems in the area of spatial planning. But the approach now has a much wider range of application. The distinctive feature of the approach is the combination of the emphasis on solutions and practicality.
Understanding
No long-winded problem analyses but a reliance on understanding with the aim of coming up with inventive breakthroughs and solutions. That means that the client, even in longer processes - for example the development of a vision for the future) - can get to work straightaway with interim results and products in the organisation. Stipo works for and with everybody who has a hand in shaping cities: residents, municipal authorities, housing corporations, cultural, sports and educational institutions, entrepreneurs, developers, regional partnerships, and provincial authorities.
Co-makership
It is vital to bring together the knowledge and expertise that the client already has. In collaboration with the client, a path is set out with all stakeholders. Where necessary, Stipo organises input from experts in the field. This 'co-makership' is the basis for mobilising knowledge and support for strategic solutions. The phased approach to development means that the client can get to work straightaway with interim results in the organisation. Ultimately, this means we make ourselves redundant.
