Delft Schie-shores

Restructuring the Schie-shores

17-09-2007 Stipo: Kees Jansen

The city of Delft and Stipo have been working together on a market consultation for the future development of the Schieoevers.

Schieoevers is a strategically located work-zone running from the historic city centre to the green area between Delft and Rotterdam. Its position on a hub of roads, railroads and water offers high potential. It is next to the Technical University and the future Technopolis. The area contains the Gelatine park, which is being developed for cultural corporations, and Delft South train station, which will be an important station in the future city-line.

In view of its location and the nearby station, the area-vision is aimed at a more multi-functional use. The city of Delft is working on the improvement, closely involving all stakeholders.

As a next step after the area-vision, the Schieoevers steering committee has enlisted Stipo Consult to actively investigate the possible roles of industry and real-estate owners in the restructuring process. The result is a feasibility-analysis and an organisation-proposal. The process and the document describe the following points:

  • the market vision of the different parties (developers and investors) and how that relates to the area-vision;
  • the (organisational) modes of cooperation aimed at realising the shared vision.
  • city's proposal for cooperation with other parties.
