The municipality of Binnenmaas has started the Housing, Welfare and Care project, cooperating with residents and (care) institutions in taking the initiative to realise housing, welfare and care facilities for, mainly, senior citizens in the Municipality of Binnenmaas. The project was based on a vision paper written by Stipo Consult. Stipo also provides the senior-project manager Arie van der Ham to put this vision into practice.
Where does it happen?
The project involves all towns and villages in the Binnenmaas area, but focuses mainly on locations in Heinenoord, Puttershoek and Mijnsheerenland.

On various locations in The Netherlands, trials are being run for assisted living zones (‘woonzorgzones') and ‘demand orientation'. Binnenmaas too is considering making demand orientation a central concept and creating ‘woonzorgzones'. A ‘woonzorgzone' is an area with extra facilities, easy-access apartments and a sheltered living environment, allowing people who need (extensive) care to live independently. This is demand-oriented because the facilities are supplied based on the need for them, not on what is already there.
