How do you involve residents and investors in making your urban regeneration plans? A free online training helps out.
In the last ten years, governments have more and more become partners between partners. The shift from government to governance. It is a new art of getting processes started with other partners, with residents, but also with investors, in the broadest sense of the word. But HOW?
The ReUrbA / Stipo approach might give you some answers. ReUrbA (European project for urban regeneration) and Stipo do not see governance as endless talking that only leads to grey compromises, but as a process that needs leadership to get to innovation, new concepts and new coalitions to deliver.
When it comes to governance, very few practical methods have been written down. For the European project for urban regeneration ReUrbA2, Enschede Zuid in The Netherlands has been selected as a best practice. The project lead to a shared plan with residents and investors in 7 months. First results were being delivered since the 5th month, not by the government, but largely by the same residents and investors themselves.
The paper that describes the method is NOT meant as a standard blueprint, but more as a recepy for inspiration. You can download it here: http://www.stipo.nl/projecten/governanceeng/index.htm
